  1.                     Program Information
  2.  
  3. On any one CoverDisk, you'll almost certainly find a program 
  4. which requires one or more files other than those in its program 
  5. directory in order to run properly. These extra files are usually 
  6. those found in the system directories C, L, LIBS, DEVS, and S.
  7.  
  8. For example, the most common additional files are 'library' 
  9. files, found in the LIBS directory, ARP.LIBRARY being the most 
  10. popular. You might find a data file needs MMPP, the text reader 
  11. for crunched documents, which is found in our C: directory, or 
  12. that a game written in HiSoft Basic will need the 
  13. HiSoftbasic.library.
  14.  
  15. If you copy programs to another disk and they suddenly stop 
  16. working, it is usually because you haven't copied the associated 
  17. extra files. In addition, some programs need to be located in a 
  18. 'logical device'. This is what is set up when you use an ASSIGN 
  19. statement, and to use programs such as this on another disk, you 
  20. would have to set up the ASSIGNs in the second disk's startup-
  21. sequence.

  23. To do this, load up your Workbench disk, open CLI, and type:
  24.  
  25. ED {newdisk}:s/startup-sequencem
  26.  
  27. where {newdisk} is the name of (surprise!) your new disk. Move 
  28. the cursor to before the command LOADWB and insert the ASSIGN 
  29. statements found at the end of this document.

  33. In this document each month you will find a program-by-program 
  34. list of exactly what extra files you need to run each of the 
  35. programs. If a program needs nothing from outside its own 
  36. directory, it will not be listed and you can copy it to a new 
  37. disk by dragging its drawer icon across to the new disk.
